Communication
The Dover PTO facilitates communication within the Chickering community as well as with the broader Dover community. Our current communication strategy includes:
- Authoring a monthly PTO Newsletter
- Participating in weekly Chickering emails
Each week, the Chickering administration updates families on school-related announcements. The Dover PTO uses these emails to remind families of upcoming events and deadlines. Less paper copies and more "green" communication.
- Seeking external press coverage
- Posting the minutes of monthly PTO Executive Board meetings
- Creating the Chickering School Directory
Each year, the School Directory Committee works with Chickering administrators to publish student classroom, bus and contact information as a benefit to the Chickering Community. The Committee works closely with the administrators to ensure accuracy as well as privacy. In 2007, the Committee started running a contest for the Cover of the Directory. Students were asked to illustrate their favorite thing about Chickering. The winning entry becomes the cover for the following year. FAQ
- Facilitating communication with working parents
The Dover PTO strives to be an inclusive organization, one that represents all constituents equally. To facilitate communications with working parents, the PTO established a Parent Liaison.
- Working with Dover Mothers Association and Dover Dads Group
Dover PTO is fortunate to work with two great organizations to reach parents in town. The Dover Mothers Association is a critical link to incoming Chickering parents. The Dover Dads Group maintains an email list to facilitate communications with fathers.
- Creating templates for consistent PTO communications
To better identify communications and activities of the Dover PTO, a logo and common look-and-feel were developed in 2005. All communications from the PTO now include the logo, and templates were created for our letterhead, memo/flyers in Color and BW versions, and check request form.
