Community Outreach
Dover PTO helps students appreciate that Chickering is part of the broader Dover community, the Massachusetts community and the world. To accomplish this, we offer student and family enrichment though three programs:
- Speakers
Each year, the Dover PTO invites speakers to present to the community on a topic relevant to parents of school-age children. Past topics have included: homework, how to talk to your children about drugs/alcohol and raising boys. This year’s programs include:
- Teens, Tweens and Technology: Author Anastasia Goodstein shared her insight into “Totally Wired: What Teens are really doing with Technology.” Click to see her the Discussion Guide.
- Go Green: On March 12, Dr. Nicolas Oreskovic, a pediatrician from Mass General, will discuss ways in which we can all contribute to a greener world. Bring your child and discover together the top ten things you can do to “go green!” 6:30-7:30 pm.
- Symphony series
Boston Symphony Orchestra Family Concert Series, "What Do You Hear?" Chickering families join the BSO to listen and explore ideas with exciting repertoire from Berlioz, Britten, Rossini, Mozart and Beethoven.
This year’s information: Saturday, February 2, 10:15am - ONE DATE ONLY Tickets are $25 each, which covers the cost of admission, pre-concert activities, and bus transportation to and from Boston. All tickets need to be ordered by November
- Charitable outreach
Each year, the Chickering community generously supports multiple charitable opportunities identified by teachers, students and/or the outreach committee. The committee’s goal is to identify a mix of local and global opportunities as well as those that seek donations of time as well as items. This committee also organizes the numerous requests targeted at Chickering parents that come from the community.
Please look for communications on this year’s charitable opportunities. |
