Special Projects
In 2005, the PTO surveyed the Chickering staff and teachers to identify opportunities where the PTO could make a difference. Additional ideas were generated in later discussions with Chickering Administration. Parents interested in helping with any of these areas are encouraged to contact us at info@DoverPTO.org
- Outdoor classroom
- Energy Task Force
A group of concerned parents have been working with the Dover-Sherborn District administration to identify and help address the problem of overheating in Chickering classrooms during both the winter and shoulder-months. Their initial presentation to the Dover School Committee and the D-S Superintendent is attached: PDF of Presentation As a result of their efforts, this issue is now part of the School Improvement Plan. Further work on this area is now the responsibility of the School Advisory Council.
- Recycling
The Dover Recycling Committee will be a great resource to the Dover PTO during the Go Green initiative. The goal is to coordinate Chickering’s efforts with those of the Dover community. Potential ideas include:
- Participation in the annual clean-up Dover day
- Composting of cafeteria waste
- Even more recycling within Chickering
Raise your hand if you want to help
- Playground Task Force
What else can students be doing at recess? Should we have more equipment? Are there other outdoor activities that could be made available during recess time? What do the students and teachers want?
