Back to School Picnic is a Success
Hurricanes and power outages couldn't deter the PTO's back-to-school enthusiasm. Over two hundred kids and parents turned out to kick off the new school year on Chickering Fields last Thursday evening.
A beautiful night set the tone for family and group picnics on the lawn, party games led by a savvy Party Entertainment DJ, and ice cream novelties "on the PTO" dished out of Sweet Pete's classic ice-cream truck. Between line dances and competitions, kids managed to reconnect with friends, pick up awesome new Chickering apparel, and take down 260 frozen treats. And, most importantly, families "got connected" -- the theme and goal of this year's PTO efforts. It was incredible to witness so many moms and dads reaching out to share insights, trade vacation tales, check how neighbors had fared through the hurricane, and welcome newcomers to our community.
The event was made possible by amazing efforts from Paula Lordi, Caterina Morvillo, Rebecca Kovrilija, Heather Tourtellotte, and Andrea DiFabio, along with co-presidents Gina Doyle and Missy Gramer. These are some organized women, and that was a great way to start the school year. Many thanks to all involved! ... If only the utility companies were as well run ...
Oh! And were you one of those folks wondering where those fresh duds came from? ... the hot pink or navy blue Chickering t-shirts and accessories? Those threads are the PTO's first fundraising effort of the year (over $1,000 raised at the picnic already!) and you can get yours on Back To School Night or through the SHOP area of the PTO website.
See you September 15 at Back To School Night.
Welcome back!
