Suzanne Bloom and the First Grade

Author and illustrator Suzanne Bloom visited Chickering’s First Grade classes on Thursday, December 1st. The much-loved childrens book author Bloom had workshops with each of the four classrooms to show them the process that helps her produce such delightful stories and illustrations. The young students have been learning about the stages of writing a story, and practicing those steps. In workshops, they are often amazed to realize that these methods are the same for famous authors of the books they have studied and cherished. The process gives them not only confidence in their own writing, but brings alive the books they study. First grade parents can help make an even stronger connection to the workshop by exploring the author’s writing together, or by talking with your child about authors you love.
