“An effort made for the happiness of others lifts us above ourselves.” – Lydia M. Child
The DS-Boston community came together with impressive solidarity to financially support
DS-Boston families, faculty and staff who have been negatively affected by COVID-19 and
related closures.
The Campaign, run by the DS METCO Scholarship Fund, raised $58,000 from 194 unique
donors for community members in need.
We will continue to work with the DS leadership team and turn your donations into food and
pharmacy cards for distribution through the summer and into the fall.
THANK YOU for donating once.
THANK YOU for caring.
THANK YOU for donating twice.
THANK YOU for calling and emailing and asking how you can help.
THANK YOU for sending a check from your organization.
THANK YOU for showing up in this way.
AND
THANK YOU to the Chickering PTO, the Pine Hill CSA, the Middle School POSITIVE group, the DS PTO and the DS Leadership Team for helping to make this happen.
The era of uncertainty is not behind us, and the pandemic continues.
AT THE DS METCO SCHOLARSHIP FUND, OUR WORK CONTINUES
When DS schools closed in March, the DS METCO Scholarship Fund mobilized the Emergency Funds Campaign and partnered with the DS schools. We expanded our Fund’s mission because we believe that if some of us need help, all of us should care.
We are proud to announce that even after halting our own fundraising for three months to run the Emergency Funds Campaign and cancelling our annual fundraiser due to COVID-19, we were still able to:
-
Present scholarship awards to four DS METCO seniors.
-
Present the inaugural Juretha Olivia Cooper Memorial Scholarship, an award focused on academics, service and leadership honoring the mother and grandmother of alumni.
-
Pilot a mentoring program run by DS METCO alumni on our Board, which matches alumni with current DS METCO students.
Please consider a donation to the DS METCO Scholarship Fund, if you’re able. https://dsmetcoscholarshipfund.org
Sincerely,
The DS METCO Scholarship Fund Board of Directors
